Prananath Autonomous College, Khordha
Prananath College (Autonomous) is named after a social reformer, statesman and litterateur, Late Prananath Pattanaik who dedicated life for the cause of farmers, oppressed, downtrodden and strived hard for the spread of higher education to make the college accessible to students of rural areas. The college has completed its 62 years of eventful existence since its inception in the year 1959. With the passage of time the college has been re-accredited with A-grade by NAAC-UGC and also has been acknowledged as a College with Potential for Excellence. The excellence and the credibility were maintained by positioning itself as one of the premier educational institutions of higher learning in the state of Odisha which caters to the aspirations of more than 7000 students in their pursuit of higher studies both at UG and PG level. All these achievements over the years were made possible because of selfless devotion of its founder and sheer perseverance, sincerity, commitment, dedication and loyalty of the management, teachers, students and alumni. All stakeholders, while celebrating its past achievements and laurels, are constantly striving hard for making this college a university.
I am very proud and honoured to be the principal of this heritage college.
The college provides an eco-friendly ambience of learning and teaching with state-of-the-art library and renovated laboratories with latest equipment. Through seminars, workshops and guest lectures, each student finds a platform for intellectual interaction to get more refined. Students are encouraged to imbibe in them the service attitude and leadership quality through wings of NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross, Ranger & Rover and through several outreach programmes.
The college has confronted many a challenge in the past, but without paying any heed, tried to work through its vision. The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a lot of challenges for all of us. The college has strived to uphold the quality education through online platforms for taking virtual classes. In the midst of pandemic, the management, staff and students are all united and committed towards our achievements and sustainability of Educational Excellence.
My humble request to all stakeholders to confront the pandemic with full of positivity and pursue our mission to take this college to a greater height.
